Rappi Acquires Indian AI Supply Chain Firm Fountain9

On-demand delivery operator Rappi, has acquired the assets of Fountain9, an Indian firm specializing in artificial intelligence-driven supply chain solutions. The transaction encompasses Fountain9’s intellectual property and its team, though the financial details have not been disclosed.

Fountain9 is recognized for its AI-powered inventory planning platform, which enhances supply chain efficiency through advanced demand forecasting, price optimization, and waste reduction. The platform has significantly improved supply chain operations for various companies by leveraging machine learning for predictive analytics.

The acquisition follows a successful collaboration between Rappi and Fountain9, where the latter’s technology was instrumental in optimizing Rappi Turbo’s delivery operations. This positive experience established a foundation of trust, paving the way for the asset purchase.

Felipe Villamarín, co-founder of Rappi, emphasized that this acquisition is a strategic move to advance the company’s technological capabilities in supply chain management. “The integration of Fountain9’s assets allows us to further leverage AI to enhance our supply chain operations and extend these capabilities to our partners,” Villamarín stated.

As part of the acquisition, Fountain9’s co-founders, Niki Khokale and Rajas Lonkar, along with their team, will join Rappi. This move is expected to bolster Rappi’s delivery operations in Latin America and position the company as a global hub for top talent in technology and supply chain management.
