Cromai Selected as the Sole Ag-Tech Startup in OpenRAN@Brasil Program

OpenRAN@Brasil, a Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MCTI) initiative, has announced the selection of six startups for its latest call for projects. The program focuses on advancing 5G and beyond technologies, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, and training. Notably, Cromai has been chosen as the only ag-tech startup among the selected participants.

Cromai’s project, Cromai Sentinel, involves an embedded device that utilizes artificial intelligence for analyzing and measuring the percentage of plant impurities in sugarcane samples through computer vision. The integration of 5G technology aims to enhance the device’s data processing speed, analysis agility, and sensor monitoring capabilities.

The other selected startups are:

  • Acta Robotics: Focused on adapting its Kappabot autonomous mobile robot to leverage 5G for improved operational efficiency in industrial and logistics environments.
  • Anlix: Developing modules for capturing and analyzing 5G network data to enhance the Flashboard system, aiding Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in monitoring and managing network performance.
  • Pix Force: Aims to integrate its Pix Safety platform, which uses AI and computer vision for workplace safety, with the OpenRAN network infrastructure to improve data communication and interoperability.
  • Quickium: Working on evolving its Quickium Eye product for workplace safety through network slicing, which allows for the virtual segmentation of network infrastructure to meet various service requirements.
  • Ring-0 Networks: Will integrate its ring-0 Firewall with the OpenRAN infrastructure for secure navigation, focusing on real-time traffic inspection and performance evaluation.

The program provides selected startups with technical training, financial support, and access to 5G-enabled experimentation terminals, facilitating the exploration of advanced 5G applications.
