BR Angels Launches Seventh Investment Batch Focused on AgTechs

BR Angels, a Brazilian angel investment group specializing in innovation, has announced its seventh investment round, allocating R$ 5 million (approx. USD 870,000 at date of publication) to AgTech startups. This marks the first time since its founding in 2019 that the group has focused on a specific sector, underscoring the importance and growth potential of AgTechs in Brazil.
The investment strategy includes individual funding amounts ranging from R$ 1 million to R$ 1.5 million per startup, distributed over 12 to 18 months. The initiative aims to support scalable business models and technological advancements that enhance efficiency and sustainability in the agricultural sector. In addition to financial backing, selected startups will benefit from mentorship and networking opportunities provided by the group’s members.
According to Orlando Cintra, founder and CEO of BR Angels, the decision to concentrate on AgTechs is strategic. The sector faces challenges such as climate change, increasing demands for productivity and efficiency, and the adoption of sustainable practices. The group’s investors, who have extensive experience in the industry, will contribute not only with capital but also with strategic guidance and connections.
BR Angels has previously invested in two AgTech startups: iRancho, a livestock management platform offering customized solutions, and Inspectral, an ESGTech specializing in environmental and agricultural monitoring. With this new investment round, the group seeks to expand its portfolio with innovative companies that can drive transformation in agribusiness.
The selection process prioritizes startups with disruptive technologies, scalable business models, and teams with strong execution capabilities. Annually, BR Angels receives applications from over 3,000 startups, with 10% to 15% operating in agribusiness. The expectation is that this percentage will grow significantly with the new investment focus.
The seventh batch is led by a team of 30 experienced investors, including industry professionals such as Antônio Lacerda (CPMC Brasil), Celso Macedo (Farmers Edge LATAM), Lieven Cooreman (Strategos), and Zenaide Guerra (dsm-firmenich). Their involvement highlights BR Angels’ commitment to providing not just financial support but also strategic and operational guidance to the selected startups.
With a network of over 400 executives and a portfolio valued at more than R$ 2 billion, BR Angels continues to establish itself as a key player in fostering technological innovation within Brazilian agribusiness. The group aims to solidify its role as a leading angel investment network by attracting new members and forming strategic partnerships in the sector.
