AgriCapital Closes Debt Financing Deal with AlphaMundi Group
AlphaMundi Group, through its SocialAlpha-Bastion Impact Fund (SAIF), has provided debt financing to AgriCapital, a Colombian agrifintech founded in 2016. AgriCapital specializes in financial services for the rural sector, and the funds will be used to issue new loans to local farmers. This financial support is intended to help increase agricultural productivity and sustainability.
AgriCapital operates across 18 departments in Colombia, with a focus on providing small producers with financial services and technical assistance to improve their productivity and well-being. As of June 2024, the company had a loan portfolio of USD 3.6 million and 6,874 clients.
AgriCapital’s operations align with SAIF’s mission to drive meaningful change through sustainable and innovative investments. By using technology to enhance agricultural productivity and promote financial inclusion, AgriCapital aims to contribute to economic empowerment while addressing food security and rural development.
José Darío Lozano Gómez, Director of AlphaMundi Group in Latin America, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, citing AgriCapital’s leadership, agricultural expertise, investor backing, and innovative business model. He highlighted the company’s role in expanding financial inclusion in Colombia’s rural areas and noted its strong financial performance and social impact alignment with AlphaMundi’s goals.
Juan Sebastián Correa, AgriCapital’s Chief Financial Officer, emphasized that the new funds would allow the company to issue more loans, supporting both individual farmers and the broader agricultural sector. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to generating positive social and economic impact through innovative financial solutions.
