La argentina EDRA completa su ronda de financiación y prepara su expansión

Argentine climate tech startup EDRA has successfully completed its latest funding round. EDRA, founded in November 2022, focuses on promoting large-scale regenerative agriculture through the tokenization of sustainable agricultural practices. This approach aims to drive behavioral changes in primary food production by allowing stakeholders in the food production system to co-invest directly and decentralize their value chain. By utilizing blockchain technology, the platform assigns economic value to environmental improvements, transforming them into Digital Climate Assets (DCA).

The startup’s first pilot successfully engaged various stakeholders in the food production chain, including producers, input suppliers, and industries, to unify efforts toward more sustainable agriculture. These regenerative and circular practices were validated using blockchain and satellite imagery, generating the first DCAs. These assets were purchased by participating companies to reward producers’ efforts, establishing EDRA as a novel investment tool for reducing Scope 3 emissions under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Building on this initial success, EDRA is set to launch its “Desafío 2.0,” aiming to expand the results of the first project tenfold within Argentina. Federico Travesino, CMO of EDRA, highlighted the importance of this phase for validating their business model, improving the platform, and developing strategic alliances in preparation for regional growth projected for Q4 2025.

The DCAs represent blockchain-based intangible tokens that embody the tangible efforts of producers, validated by EDRA’s platform. These tokens can be purchased by companies committed to climate resilience in their value chains, addressing the substantial indirect emissions that can constitute up to 95% of a food production company’s total emissions.

EDRA’s innovative approach to financing and validating sustainable practices offers a collaborative investment model crucial for addressing the climate crisis and facilitating the transition to more sustainable agricultural models.
