FarmDroid Secures €10.5 Million to Expand Solar-Powered Agricultural Robots

FarmDroid, a Danish company specializing in autonomous agricultural robots, has secured €10.5 million in funding to advance the deployment of its solar-powered robot, designed to assist farmers and plant breeders in reducing manual labor and chemical inputs. The investment round, led by Convent Capital with participation from EIFO and Navus Ventures, totals nearly DKK 80 million and will support the company’s global expansion.

FarmDroid’s robots are capable of sowing, weeding, and precision spraying, operating continuously in the field using solar energy. The system has proven effective in organic farming and is now being introduced to conventional farming, with the aim of reducing pesticide use and improving efficiency. The company’s technology promotes eco-friendly farming by employing mechanical weed removal and precision spraying, which minimizes the need for chemical inputs.

René Jannick Jørgensen, CEO of FarmDroid, expressed confidence in the new investment, stating that it will strengthen the company’s position in the market and accelerate its growth. Founders Jens and Kristian Warming highlighted the importance of selecting investors who align with the company’s vision, noting that the new partners will contribute both expertise and financial resources to help scale the business.

The investors involved see FarmDroid as a key player in agricultural innovation. Convent Capital praised the robot’s simplicity and effectiveness in reducing chemical inputs while improving crop yields. EIFO emphasized FarmDroid’s contribution to sustainable agriculture, while Navus Ventures recognized the company’s leadership in agricultural robotization and its potential to drive long-term productivity in the sector.
