Final Pitch 2024: Latin American Startups Showcase Agrifoodtech Innovations

The Final Pitch Day of GLOCAL LatAm’s innovation program recently brought together ten Latin American startups to present their solutions in Agrifintech, Climatech, Precision Agriculture, Innovative Food, and Agbiotech. The event, held before a jury and key figures in the Agrifoodtech ecosystem, marked the culmination of months of collaboration involving startups, producers, distributors, corporate partners, and venture capital funds.

The showcase was not simply a competition but the result of an open innovation process, where startups tested and validated their technologies in real-world contexts. Corporate partners, including Surcos and Boortmalt, provided direct feedback and support, ensuring the solutions presented were practical and market-ready. Startups also gained connections with investment funds to explore future financing opportunities.

“This event highlights how entrepreneurs are not only building effective solutions but are also addressing real market needs,” noted Florencia Solari, Invest Officer at GLOCAL LatAm and host of the event.

Two standout companies, selected from over 500 applicants, were recognized for their innovative approaches. Calice, an Argentinian Agtech startup, uses an AI-based platform to optimize product development and commercialization for agri-food companies. Florece, a Mexican Agfintech, offers a financial platform that simplifies cross-border payments for the produce industry. Both companies demonstrated potential to make a significant impact on the Agrifoodtech landscape in Latin America.

The event underscored GLOCAL LatAm’s mission of fostering innovation by connecting key players across the agricultural value chain. By enabling startups to collaborate with industry leaders, GLOCAL aims to address critical challenges such as food security and climate resilience through technological advancement.

“Seeing entrepreneurs with clear and impactful solutions is the first big step toward widespread adoption of Agrifoodtech technologies. The future is promising if we keep moving in this direction,” said Bernardo Milesy, Managing Partner at GLOCAL LatAm.
