Transforma Alimentos Releases Chile’s 2024 Food Innovation Catalog

Transforma Alimentos recently launched the 5th edition of the Catálogo de Innovación Alimentaria de Chile during the Food & Service Fair, the largest food industry event in the country and a prominent platform in Latin America. This digital publication showcases the 50 most innovative food products and services of the year, categorized into “Next-Generation Foods, Beverages, and Ingredients,” “Agrifood-Tech,” “Sustainable Systems and Zero Waste,” and “Gastronomic Heritage.”

The event also featured the I+A Call Awards, an initiative by Transforma Alimentos, Nutrisco, and Espacio Food & Service, recognizing outstanding innovations in Chile’s food sector. Notable winners included Asinolat in the “Next-Generation Foods” category, Bioketen Innovation in “Agrifood-Tech,” Atacama Biomaterials in “Sustainable Systems and Zero Waste,” and Stefymar in “Gastronomic Heritage.” The public selected Amazing Care for the Best Pitch award, and ProChile honored five companies—Biome Resources, Liva Company, Eat Clever, Atacama Biomaterialse Underfive—as the “Most Export-Ready Innovations.”

José Miguel Benavente, Executive Vice President of Corfo, highlighted the role of innovation in expanding Chile’s productive capabilities and strengthening its position in international markets. He praised the work of Transforma Alimentos in promoting high-potential projects through public-private collaboration. Graciela Urrutia, Manager of Transforma Alimentos, noted the industry’s increasing focus on sustainability, emerging technologies, and health, pointing out that 60% of catalog companies are startups under four years old from regional areas.

The catalog was developed with support from over 20 public and private partners, including research institutions, corporations, and innovation agencies. As part of the event, a seminar brought together stakeholders from the private and public sectors to discuss opportunities in research, development, and innovation. Topics included sustainable food production, science- and technology-based solutions, and the development of functional ingredients and natural additives.
