Toesca Asset Management and Astarte Capital Partners Launch Platform for Regenerative Agriculture in Latin America

Toesca Asset Management, a Chilean investment firm specializing in alternative assets, and Astarte Capital Partners, a London-based global manager of sustainable real assets, have announced a new partnership to develop a platform focused on regenerative agriculture investments in Latin America. The initiative will prioritize sustainable practices while addressing growing global demand for healthier food options and improved food security.

The platform’s first fund, Toesca Permanent Crops II (TPC II), is set to deploy $350 million into a portfolio of permanent crops cultivated using regenerative methods. The strategy takes advantage of Chile’s natural strengths in fruit production and includes plans for expansion into Peru and other Latin American countries. Toesca and Astarte have already committed $45 million as sponsor capital to launch the initiative, with initial investments expected to begin in early 2025.

The fund will focus on high-performance orchards producing crops in demand worldwide, driven by shifting consumer preferences and the need for sustainable food systems. By leveraging Chile’s counter-seasonal production capacity, the platform aims to meet the needs of Northern Hemisphere markets while fostering economic and environmental benefits in the region.

Carlos Saieh, CEO of Toesca Asset Management, emphasized the unique investment opportunity provided by the region’s agricultural landscape. He pointed to the combination of strong economic fundamentals, the counter-cyclical nature of fruit exports, and a growing trend of institutional capital flowing into the sector as key drivers of the platform’s potential.

Astarte Capital Partners, which has a global focus on sustainable real assets, brings extensive experience in managing natural capital. The firm’s co-founder, Teresa Farmaki, described sustainable agriculture as central to addressing climate change and advancing food security. She highlighted the partnership’s alignment with Astarte’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

Together, Toesca and Astarte manage over 82,000 hectares of natural capital across South America and are poised to expand the reach of regenerative agriculture in the region.
